Where things stand, August 2026

  • · The amendment that turns the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) into a renewable energy contract market cleared the National Assembly plenary on 20 August 2026.
  • · According to government materials, Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) issuance for new installations stops in 2027. Installations commissioned with an issuance record by 2026 are given a grace period to 2029.
  • · The Renewable Energy Act provisions that limit and standardize setback rules take effect on 18 September 2026.
  • · Zero Energy Building (ZEB) certification has been mandatory for public buildings since 2025. The design standard for private buildings has been in force since December 2025.
